Giving to causes we care about
We believe health and fitness can benefit everyone. We are proud to donate funds and our expertise in health and fitness to help others. We are proud to provide charitable funds through regular fitness initiatives and challenges that take place at our managed health and fitness sites. Over the past few years, we have supported the Alzheimer Association, Heart Research UK and The Brain Tumour Charity. Our employees voted on two main charities to support in 2024 and 2025: CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) and MOVE Against Cancer.
Taking action for our planet
We are increasingly looking at ways we can play our part to protect our planet. In the past we have worked with Make It Wild, an organisation that aims to protect nature and encourage a greater knowledge, understanding and enjoyment of the natural world. In 2022, we pledged to plant a new tree each month, for each of our fully managed spa sites, to help offset our carbon footprint. All trees will be planted in Make It Wild’s protected nature reserves in North Yorkshire.
Nurturing employee wellbeing
The importance of good mental health and wellbeing is part of our DNA at motive8. In 2021 we created our Wellbeing Support Team and Wellbeing Committee. All members of our mental health teams hold the Mental Health First Aider qualification from Mental Health England. Our Wellbeing Committee is responsible for implementing and driving wellbeing initiatives and reviewing internal processes to improve employee welfare.
Helping prolong the life of one asset
As part of our pledge to support causes we care about, we have partnered with JogOn, a campaign to remove one million pairs of trainers from landfill. Since June 2023, residents at a selection of our manned gym and spa sites across the UK have been donating their unwanted running shoes in the knowledge that they will go to people who need them most, or be properly disposed of ensuring they do not go into landfill.
