Benefits of Personal Training
When starting their fitness journey, many people often believe that you already need to be physically fit to have a personal trainer but this is not the case. A good personal trainer should be able to adapt their sessions for all abilities and experiences. A personal trainer can be the key component to rejuvenating your love for the gym or creating consistency to your workout routine. Everyone can benefit from personal training, for a breadth of reasons.
Accountability & Target Setting
Personal trainers support you through goal setting, keeping you accountable throughout your fitness journey. This might be through weekly check-ins or reviewing your food diary on a weekly basis.
Once you have a target, or a goal to achieve, you will become more motivated throughout your workouts, have a sense of accomplishment, and develop a drive to succeed in your set goals. Your personal trainers’ job is to provide you with everything you need to achieve these goals, reviewing your goals on a regular basis to make sure you stay on track.
Education & Empowerment
A good personal trainer will keep you motivated not only during your PT sessions, but also outside of your sessions too. A key way to motivate a client is to empower them with the correct knowledge and information so that they make the right choices in their everyday life and optimise their success in achieving their goals. Empowering comes through education about the right kind of exercise to be doing outside of your PT sessions, the right type of nutrition to follow and lifestyle advice.
Nutrition
Personal trainers are educated in nutrition as part of their qualification, and can educate to help people’s bodies perform at their best with nutritional advice for achieving fitness goals and a healthier lifestyle. For more advanced advice around diets and complex nutrition needs, we would always recommend you seek the advice of a fully qualified nutritionist or dietitian.
“Any personal trainer can work you hard in a PT session, but most of the time it’s actually what you do outside of your sessions which helps you achieve your goals…and this is what makes a PT, a good PT. A good PT will be in contact with you outside of your sessions, educating, motivating and guiding you towards your goals.”

Flexibility
You can plan your personal training sessions to fit your schedule, whether that’s early morning, after work or in your lunch break. Personal trainers are flexible to when you want to train, in an attempt to ensure consistency in your fitness sessions, continuous progression and further accountability.
Progression
Without a personal trainer, individuals can lose interest in the gym, or come unprepared to their gym sessions, unsure on what exercises to do. When this happens, gym goers can lose motivation for their fitness journey, and at times, give up altogether. Personal trainers will create a training programme that is bespoke to you and is based on your experience and fitness levels. These programmes will then be progressed over the weeks so you continually progress towards your goals. Having a plan in place provides structure to your fitness session and maximises your potential to achieve your fitness goals.
Mental Health
In addition to the benefits of personal training, frequent exercise is known to positively affect your mental health, as it relieves tension and stress, improves physical and mental energy, and boosts your mental wellbeing through the release of endorphins post-exercise. Exercise also reduces anxiety, depression, and negative mood, through improving self-esteem and confidence.
“The fitness industry has massively changed over the last few years with more people now requesting a personal trainer to help them manage and improve both their mental and physical health. Turn the clock back 10 years ago and most PT clients would be focused on conforming to look a certain way or be a certain weight or dress size. However, there is a lot more emphasis now on training to feel good both physically and mentally.”

Trusted by our clients
See how our clients, have experienced the expertise and support of motive8’s highly qualified, professional and knowledgeable personal training teams:
“If someone had told me a year ago that I would be in a size 12 I would have laughed at them! With my 30th birthday rapidly approaching and my career beginning to take off; I didn’t want to be known as the ‘fat teacher’. Being a large size 18, I was lazy, rarely slept through a whole night and always seemed to be thirsty – I knew I needed to make some big changes!! To date, I have lost around 3 stone and 55 inches. I have maintained my dress size at a size 12 for over a year now and I feel brilliant!”
Lynette Clapham, motive8 PT Client
“I love the friendly atmosphere in the PT group classes, that is what sets motive8 apart in my opinion. It makes me look forward to my Monday evening class even more, I know I’ll get a good workout with the added bonus of a good laugh with some great like-minded people.”
Richard Kellam, motive8 PT group member
