At motive8 we are a firm believer of utilising staff to train and upskill in areas that will benefit and assist with the smooth operating of our gym and spa facilities as well as giving employees the chance to upskill and aid in their development.
All our team members are made compliant by undertaking the RLSS Emergency pool responder course that enable our team members to effectively and safely deal with any pool and first aid emergencies that may arise, but we don’t stop there.
We like to ensure all our clients are confident in our ability to manage any spa facility but also be able to provide a professional approach to our residents with all the skill sets they may need access to for the health and fitness journey. This filters down to the teams on site knowing how to fully operate a site and be reactive on any operational issues and being able to assist residents in the gym and spa facilities. To do this we have invested not only in our onsite managers but our duty managers too.

Pool Plant Onsite Designated Supervisor
Our team of duty managers are all enrolled onto a 1-day pool plant operator’s course. Here they learn the basics of pool chemistry, water testing, filtration, backwashing, emergency action plans, microbiological management and health and safety regulations and codes of practice. To make sure they have necessary knowledge to go on and out this into practice they are assessed via a multiple-choice exam and undertake a practical assessment whereby they have to correctly complete a pool test, backwash, identify pool plant circulation equipment and undertake a risk assessment.
Pool Plant Operator
It’s a legal requirement for companies operating commercial pools to ensure that that the water is safe, clean, and hygienic. We must also ensure that staff who are involved in operating the pool are fully trained and competent. This is especially important as the pool water treatment process involves extremely hazardous chemicals. Therefore, we ensure all our onsite managers are qualified with a 3-day pool plant operator certification. The pool plant operator delves more in depth to the pool plant room and not only covers what is included in the supervisor course but then also covers topics such as disinfection, chemical dosing, filtration/coagulation, chemical control, circulation/hydraulics, and good hygiene practices. Our managers are then assessed via both practical exams and a written assessment.

motive8 not only like to ensure our teams are operationally knowledgeable but are also able to provide and assist our residents with all their health and fitness needs for the best experience possible. We are proud to be able to make upskilling our teams so much more accessible.
motive8IQ is the training/CPD arm of motive8 where we have been delivering courses such as Studio Cycling and Education and Training. All our courses are accredited by Active IQ and are all delivered via eLearning and online Lectures/Webinars.
Some of our upcoming courses in 2023 include L2 Understanding Nutrition, Performance and Healthy Eating, L3 Supporting Pre and Post Natal Clients, L3 Designing Exercise Programmes for Older Adults and L2 Mental Health Awareness.
