Events are an integral part of the motive8 calendar to promote the building of community across our sites. Our Gym and Spa Operations Manager works closely with Managers to ensure our monthly events are catered to the needs and demographic of each individual site.
This year’s theme
National Fitness Day is a stand out date within our events calendar each year. This year the focus was ‘your health is life.’
Across the motive8 sites we used it as a chance to highlight the role physical activity plays across the UK, helping raise the awareness of its importance in assisting us to lead a healthier lifestyle.
Residents were asked to define what fitness means to them, with answers recorded and shared to emphasise the many benefits to their overall wellbeing.
Event scheduled for National Fitness Day
A day of full class timetables were scheduled with the addition of a variety of new classes such as ‘Afrobeats’ and ‘Pilates.’ This is a great way to obtain resident feedback before changes are made to the regular schedule.
Recovery was another focus of the day with complimentary head and shoulder massages which also served as a great way to advertise the range of additional service available to residents.
Last but by no means least, residents with a more competitive streak participated in a range of challenges throughout the week such as Beat the Trainer and Spin to Win, with a whole host of prizes on offer.

motive8 Inspires Residents on National Fitness Day 2022
21st September 2022 saw all motive8’s fully managed facilities embrace National Fitness Day.
The day saw a total of 75 residents take part in the pull-up challenge with a leaderboard created across the portfolio using the motive8 wellbeing app. Many more residents took part but chose not to join the leaderboard. Staff and Personal Trainers were also encouraged to set the benchmark for residents to beat, which provided some great friendly competition.
Group exercise sessions
Group exercise taster sessions were offered in facilities with studios with a good take up at all facilities. The aim of these wasn’t so much to offer new classes but to encourage those who don’t usually take part in group sessions to try them out in a less intimidating environment.
Treatments
Facilities with treatment rooms offered 10-15 minute taster massages with a great take up on these, with most facilities who offered them, fully booked throughout the day.
Fitness activity
Fulham Reach in Hammersmith, London teamed up with the local rowing club again. Whilst turnout was lower than last year, the feedback from residents was that it was down to the timing of the sessions, a lesson learnt for next year!
Health checks, including body composition, BMI, body fat etc. were a real hit at one development; we hope to be able to offer these at more facilities in the future too.
Our popular squash court at one London facility also organised a very successful squash tournament, which provided some healthy competition amongst residents.
Overall, close to 1500 residents engaged with some element of National Fitness Day across the portfolio. This year’s National Fitness Day has been hailed a huge success by residents and staff across all our facilities and evidence of the excellent work our on-site teams are doing to improve the wellbeing and engagement within each of the developments we work in.
