To mark National Careers Week we caught up with a few of our team to talk about their role at motive8 and why they have stayed with the business through the turbulent last couple of years.
We spoke to Nikki, Ray and Dovile who work across our head office, maintenance and Gym & Spa Management departments about their time with motive8 and how their roles have progressed.

How long have you worked for motive8?
I officially started with motive8 as a work experience student while I was in college studying Sports Science. I worked with motive8 for 6 years in various departments and then left to go travelling after finishing my university degree. On my return to the UK motive8 was in the process of launching their first Gym and Spa, and I was fortunate to be welcomed back into the business as a Gym and Spa Manager and have just celebrated my 10 work anniversary.
What is your job title and responsibilities?
My current job title is Operations and HR Co-ordinator, I am responsible for the overall management and day-to-day running of the main head office along with facilitating all key company HR responsibilities.
Is the role you are in now the original role you started in?
I have worked in many departments within motive8 throughout the years. I started out as a Fitness Instructor then Personal Trainer and Sports Coach withing the coaching department. When motive8 opened their first gym and spa facility I progressed within the department starting as a Duty Manager, Manager, Area Manager and then Head of Gym and Spa. I left this role due to sustaining an injury which stopped me from being able to fulfil my role to 100% of my ability. After COVID allowed us to return back to work I took on an Operations and HR role while supporting the Induction and Personal Training Department. My responsibilities include coordinating motive8IQ where we offer health and fitness based courses to assist in upskilling our employees and supporting their continual professional development.
What do you like most about your role and the work you do?
I love the variety and knowledge each role has given me in growing not only my confidence as an individual but my skills in communication and leadership within all department teams and fellow colleagues.
What do you like most about working for motive8?
I love the work I do within motive8. Throughout my time with the company I have been extremely fortunate to have been part of their amazing growth and success.

I have worked for motive8 since August 2019, roughly 2.5 years.
What is your job title and responsibilities?
I am currently a Gym Equipment Technician and I complete gym services and repairs throughout all motive8 sites. I also cover shifts as a Duty Manager on occasions to assist with the smooth running of the onsite Gym and Spa facilities.
Is the role you are in now the original role you started in?
I started as a Duty Manager at our Gym & Spa facility in Ealing, I also spent time as a Personal Training and completed inductions for residents. I am now working as a Gym Equipment Technician, I enjoyed working on sites but applied for the technician trainee role as I was always interested in learning how to fix machines and be in a more hands on position.
What do you like most about your role and the work you do?
I like visiting the various sites and being in a different place each day. I like learning about gym equipment and enjoy working on site at Dickens Yard as they are a great team to work with and there are many interesting residents.
What do you like most about working for motive8?
I like how motive8 are involved in all areas of the business, from installing and designing gyms to providing trainers and management, along with maintenance and equipment repairs in both Gym and Spa which provides different career paths.

I have been working for motive8 for 4.5 years.
What is your job title and responsibilities?
Gym & Spa Manager. My main responsibility is to keep one of our fully managed spa sites running to the highest standards and delivering exceptional customer service.
Is the role you are in now the original role you started in?
I joined motive8 as a part-time Gym and Spa Operative. It did not take long to realise that it was a company I wanted to work for full-time and progress my career within the residential gym & spa management sector. For the last 2 years I have had an opportunity to manage two luxury residential Gym & Spa sites and up to now, keep gaining valuable experience working with a highly professional team.
What do you like most about your role and the work you do?
Working in the Gym & Spa management sector no two days are the same, one day may be spent at the front desk or dealing with administrative tasks and the next day may be spent with the in-house maintenance team or external contractors. Personally the best part of my role is the range of responsibilities, tasks and opportunities to develop professionally.
